Basset Hound - Tacoma - Medium - Adult - Male - Dog
Tacoma was found with his fellow littermates at the end of June 2011, living in the back of a pick-up truck. They were only days away from being able to crawl over the side of the bed and landing in the street. They all came to STAF right away, all were adopted right away. Unfortunately Tacoma has found his way back to STAF
Tacoma is lucky and gets to go on home visits with a volunteer. He is so happy to be in a home and is very well behaved. They have a dog and he became instant friends with her. He is focused and listens to everything that was asked of him, including leave it. Tacoma LOVES to play! He will thrive in a home with another dog, or a home that will take him to training and give him plenty of exercise.
Tacoma will need a confident pack leader that will work with him, using positive training methods. His former home took him to training classes, where the instructor actually picked Tacoma up and hung him from his collar and thought that was totally acceptable behavior. Even if he were being bad, which he was not, that is cruelty, not teaching. The proverb goes, you can teach an old dog new tricks. Well Tacoma isn't old, but he can learn. In fact he's very eager to learn
Since coming back to STAF Tacoma has been going to doggie day care three times a week. He is wonderful with all the dogs there, as well as the people. He is a very good car rider. He is learning and he is doing very well. He would love to have the chance to show you that with love, support and structure he would be a very good dog.

* All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
* You must complete an application at the shelter prior to meeting any of our animals. (Sorry--our application is not available on-line or via email.)
* We do not do same-day adoptions; we ask that you return for a follow-up visit before taking an animal home.
* We require a fenced yard (sorry--no invisible fences) for homes with children under age 13.
* We do request vet and personal references.
* At this time, we are only able to consider applicants within 150 miles of Cincinnati.
